John Loos is a senior economist at FNB Commercial Property Finance. Loos began his career as an economist at the National Treasury under Finance Minister Trevor Manuel, followed by a role as a macroeconomist for Globalinsight (now S&P Global). He then joined the Absa Group, co-ordinating macroeconomic forecasting and earning the title of 2004 Reuters Economist of the Year. In 2006, he transitioned to FNB, developing the FNB Property Barometer, a leading source of housing market analysis in South Africa. Since 2018, Loos has focused on commercial property analysis, conducting surveys like the FNB Commercial Property Broker Survey to assess market activity and broker sentiment.
