Following a short-lived but fruitful career as an electrical engineer, Graham took over the reins of a highly successful financial planning practice started by his father in 1959.This occurred as a result of the unexpected passing of Graham Turnbull Senior.

With an engineer's eye-for-detail, Graham soon established himself as a tour de force in the financial services industry with the establishment of Specialised Retirement Fund Services (PTY) Ltd - Now LifeSense Financial Services (PTY) Ltd.
