Senior Azure Data Engineer

An autonomous Namibian bank, providing superior financial services to individual and corporate clients, as well as international banking services by liaising directly with financial centres and institutions worldwide, is looking for an Azure data engineer. This unique position offers a deep insight into compliance and IT methodology processes within the group, and it provides internal clients with an extended warranty due to the vested interest in the success and sustainability of the group.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain big data pipelines using data platforms
• Serve as custodians of data, ensuring that data is shared in line with information classification requirements on a need-to-know basis
• Utilise programming skills in data-related programming languages and frameworks such as Python, Spark, SQL, and Kusto
• Work with Azure data solutions, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Explorer, and Azure Databricks
• Possess a profound technical understanding of data engineering and data warehouse design
• Be familiar with modern software engineering concepts like DevOps, CI/CD, and agile processes
• Knowledge of advanced analytics and BI tools (e.g., Tableau) is a plus

Qualifications and experience:

• University degree in computer science, data engineering, or a comparable field of study with a focus on data-intensive applications
• Experience in architecting and implementing scalable data pipelines in cloud environments
• Proficient in managing tools for infrastructure management, including Azure Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, Azure Active Directory, AD Connect, Operations Management Suite/Log Analytics, Azure Monitor, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, Azure App Services, Azure Storage, Azure Import/Export, Azure SQL Server, MySQL, and Azure Automation
• Expertise in Python, Azure, Spark, and SQL
