WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?


We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Account Manager with a strong background in public affairs and corporate communications. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, a skilled relationship builder, and a proactive leader who can drive client success, inspire teams, and navigate the intersection of brand, policy, and public perception.


WHAT WILL YOU DO?CLIENT AND WORK




  • Lead accounts with multiple work streams and team members, as appropriate for size of account or office




  • Lead responsibilities for execution of multiple client programs, budgets, timelines, and plans




  • Mobilise diverse, integrated teams of specialists including media, digital, creative, and public affairs to deliver comprehensive client programming




  • Develop and execute public affairs strategies aligned with client business objectives to enhance brand reputation




  • Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on public policy, regulatory challenges, and stakeholder engagement




  • Direct crisis communication efforts, safeguarding client reputations during critical incidents and public scrutiny




  • Proactively support and suggest improvements and new ideas to exceed client expectations by leveraging industry knowledge and experience




  • Complete and present quality work that exceeds client expectations




  • Establish interpersonal, lasting relationships with clients that transcend the scope of work




LEADERSHIP AND TALENT MANAGEMENT




  • Mentor, coach, and develop direct reports to deliver high performance while supporting personal and professional development goals




  • Manage a team of public affairs professionals, driving a culture of excellence and continuous improvement




  • Participate in the hiring process, partnering with hiring managers to interview and support onboarding




  • Create and support an inclusive team environment and consistently display behaviors that support integration




  • Build and lead productive relationships internally, with interagency teams, and a diverse array of agency colleagues




  • Participate in trainings to enhance cultural competency and the ability to lead, coach, and develop diverse teams




  • Actively participate in office or agency DEI initiatives to attract and retain diverse talent




GROWTH AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT




  • Participate in new business development, organic business growth efforts, and collaborate among practice areas in support of new business pitches




  • Launch high-impact public affairs initiatives, such as political campaigns and nonprofit programs, to drive public and media engagement




  • Develop relationships with clients and gain deep understanding of their business to spot organic growth opportunities and engage the right agency offering




  • Strengthen the ability to identify organic growth opportunities in current client assignments




BUSINESS ACUMEN




  • Manage programs and activities, allocating agency resources to match client budgets; demonstrate financial acumen in budgeting, billing, and staffing




  • Collaborate with project management to support development of staff plans, new scopes of work, and updates on scope management




  • Develop an editorial matrix to influence external stakeholders and shape public discourse on critical issues




  • Build understanding of agency offerings beyond own area of expertise




WHAT DO YOU NEED?




  • 7-9 years of experience in account management, with a significant focus on public affairs and corporate communications




  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful public affairs strategies




  • Strong leadership and team management skills




  • Excellent client relationship management and strategic advisory capabilities




  • Ability to navigate complex policy and regulatory environments




  • Experience in crisis communication and reputation management




  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills




  • A passion for storytelling, influencing public discourse, and driving impactful results
