Thapelo Mahlangu is the Managing Director and also a Management Development Consultant for Gestaldt Management Development Consultants(Pty)Ltd, a strategic planning and management support consulting firm established in 01 May 2006. Besides being a qualified teacher and also teaching in the past, Thapelo held various senior management positions in Learning and Development Management for both Old Mutual and Glacier by Sanlam.
Since 2006, under his consulting firm, Thapelo has researched, designed and facilitated Management Development Programmes for all Old Mutual executive managers in South Africa, Brazil, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Namibia, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Swaziland ensuring development and skills training, compliance, smooth transitions of mergers and acquisitions. He has also played a vital role at the Department of Home Affairs in formulating their vision of leadership (Moetapele), by designing the programme and
facilitating the leadership seminars nationally.
He was key in designing and depth facilitating Reignite Conferences for Sun International to re-energise their work ethic and to empower them to collaborate and be innovative. He was also key in getting Maritzburg United Football Club to be promoted to the Premier Soccer League by facilitating a depth process session after they had failed for years. Thapelo has also supported Standard Bank in redesigning their Voice Branch model and to implement a rapid multi-skilling programme for their service staff.
For Glacier by Sanlam, Thapelo developed and implemented the Learning & Development (L&D) strategy that supported business objectives by applying best practice methodologies contributing to the high standard of training, education, learning and development. He provided input into business strategy relating to learning and development and the implementation thereof through the L&D team. He was responsible for the day-to-day management of the learning and development function and the L&D team.
