I am passionate about story-telling and therefore before believe that I am the best candidate for this position. The communications and media industry is what I live for and I would love nothing more than to enhance stakeholder communications, to build solid relationships with the media and to give all that I have learnt to grow the tourism industry.
Before working for the TV News unit, I was appointed as a current affairs producer/presenter on Motsweding FM in Mahikeng where I successfully produced and presented the current affairs programmes (Boresetse, Tsele le Tsele and Itlhabe Botlhale). In this position, I have also been appointed to act as a senior producer, overseeing the teams in the absence of one. It is here where I successfully set up and managed the regional office's social media pages, which continue to grow and contribute immensely to our newsgathering and distribution.I was working as an assistant bulletin editor for TV Newson the SABC 24 hour news channel in Aucklandpark. I had been occupying this position for about three years. Working as a bulletin editor has equipped me with leadership skills as a result of guiding and supervising a team of producers and presenters on a daily basis. This position has armed me with the relevant knowledge and expertise of a senior producer or journalist working within a dynamic newsroom.
It is here where I have learned and continue to practice the art of identifying newsworthy stories and events, checking the quality of stories, being a copy or sub-editor, assigning stories to producers, writing scripts, arranging interviews across a variety of topics and trending stories. Within this role, I also took on the responsibility of an Executive Producer by being part of the crew in studio, making sure that SABC News delivers news accurately and on time. It is within this role that I learned to be responsible for a 3 hour live bulletin, where I made crucial decisions with precision and dedication.
The experience that I have acquired in the newsroom working as a producer at SABC News from 2012 (and bulletin editor since September 2013) has prepared has prepared me for this position. It is here where I have acquired the skill, the contacts, emotional intelligence and resilience. As a producer, I am equipped with the professional skills required for this job, such as writing clear and concise scripts, recording correct voice overs and packaging informative and balanced stories.I am a part of the team that launched the SABC News 24 hour channel, from concept level to its current success.
