A versatile Cost Accountant with extensive experience in Bill of materials(BOM) costing,variance analysis and valuation of inventory and management.
I have a Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Accounting and a Higher National Diploma (HND) in accounting and Taxation and have worked in the manufacturing industry at a non-carbonated beverages manufacturer as a Financial Accountant for three years and as a Management Accountant for Four years.
In my most recent past employment I was a Cost and Management Accountant .My role was basically costing all company products and projects being undertaken by the company in the three plants of Cape Town,PE and Johannesburg, like currently the company had a mega factory that has just been commissioned in Coega (EPZ) Port Elizabeth and i was drafting the overall project cost in order to report on when the project shall pay off the costs.I undertook this task in conjunction with the Plant Manager and the Group Finance Executive.
I also reviewed the Bill Of Materials (BOM),the machine and labour rates as well as reporting on the throughput and plant efficiency.I do close all production orders,do inventory valuations at month ends and landed costs allocations.
Amongst some tasks i handled in my long career at an FMCG industry was stock adjustment journals at month ends,work in progress journals as well as accruals journals and incorporated stock variances in the ledger accounts after running the stock integration report in the ERP system(Navision).In this role i was responsible for strengthening Internal Systems Controls as well as to provide oversight on transaction integrity.That involved identifying any data set anomalies and addressing any underlying process deficiencies.
I'm versatile in Group financial reporting(consolidated accounts-IFRS), analysis using pivot tables & advanced excel, I can do product contribution analysis, product performance evaluation, job and product costing, Activity Based Costing (ABC) and Bill of Material (BOM) calculations and preparation of Management Accounts.
I have Invaluable practical experience in virtually all areas of accounting including preparation of Audit files. Thorough understanding of Dr and Cr, account mapping and allocations.I'm highly computer literate & solid in several Accounting & Payroll packages. Advanced Excel.
