After earning a medical degree from the University of Cape Town, she served as a medical officer at several local hospitals in multiple provinces of South Africa and as a Flight Doctor for International SOS, providing care to patients in Sub-Saharan region of Africa.
She later held the position of Head of Medical, and subsequently, Senior Manager at GlaxoSmithKline, a pharmaceutical conglomerate that services over 11 countries. A passion for surgery and patient care led to a post at the University of the Witwatersrand, Surgical Department, where she gained experience in general surgery, having worked at some of the major Johannesburg hospitals (Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic, Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic, Helen Joseph and Leratong Hospitals) where she served as a surgical registrar.
In 2018, Dr. Marivate co-founded MaNka Health, a general practice and medical spa dedicated to providing customers with premium health solutions and convenient, innovative service in the quest for health and youth preservation.
