Karen holds a credible track record in the field of corporate communications. She developed extensive communication knowledge and practical experience by spending five years with Fundi Communications (a public relations and communications consultancy) and nearly ten years with EON Consulting (a management and engineering consulting firm).

After seven years of project communications consulting on various projects in the Eskom environment, she established the internal communications function in EON in 2010 - growing and managing a successful internal communications department within a dynamic consulting company.

Today Karen is growing her communications career to the next level as an independent communications specialist, copywriter and editor - in association with ProEthics. She utilises her wide-ranging communication and people skills and experience to support Dr Janette Minnaar-van Veijeren (advocate and anti-fraud specialist) to develop and write tailor-made, in-house training programmes for public and private sector clients to enable them to comply with legal requirements, implement best governance practices and live up to the highest ethical standards. She continues to retain her broad-spectrum private client base as well, to assist clients to implement practical and effective communication interventions.

Her attention to detail, communications background, creativity and association with professional graphic designers, copywriters, editors, online marketing specialists, etc. enable clients to create professional marketing/communication material, to reach their target audiences in a clear and effective manner - achieving desired outcomes, behaviours and actions.

Her passion for children's wellness and development runs deep and she aims to make a positive contribution by volunteering at the Jakaranda Children's Home and The King's Grace Church Children's Ministry.
