Hi, I'm Danny. the founder of Move SA and a community development practitioner.
I have discovered my purpose through my passion for serving and helping people become the best version of themselves through physical, mental, and emotional engagement.
I have created a life-changing company, which will impact the lives of many individuals, youth, and scholars. as the idea to start this company has been inspired by my own life story which for me became a life-changing experience.
Being a foreign national in South Africa is one of the biggest challenges that one can encounter. since 2007 ( age 11) I had to get into survivor mode due to financial difficulty and family instability which was amplified by the xenophobic attack that took place in 2008. my family saw no other option but to abandon our home and seek refuge at the Younsgfield military base in Ottery, Cape Town. This was a horrifying time for me and my family. I was very young and did not remember much about my home country ( DR Congo) but I knew we could not go back. I felt lost, unwanted, and scared.
4 years go by (2011) our financial status continued to weigh heavily on us which caused a major disruption in our family leading to mom and dad's separation, leaving me to fend for myself, an unemployed single mom and 3 sisters at the age of 15. I had to grow up very fast. I sacrificed all weekends and school holidays to work and learn skills essential for survival. this became my life for the next 5 years until I graduated matric in 2015.
life hit even harder after matric, all attempts for tertiary education was unsuccessful, I struggled to find employment I devoted my entire time to volunteering, community projects and again learning skills which would prove to be essential for my survival.
My mother is my greatest inspiration, she has thought me the greatest values of life, humanity, empathy, perseverance and how to be a gentleman, over the years I have used these values, my life story and experiences to educate and inspire people everywhere.
I have worked with many organizations such as SYDA ( Spades Youth Development Agency), LHF ( Light House Foundation), and LMF ( Life Matters Foundation). I have seen many kids going through what I had gone through and many adults still trying to figure out what life is all about. many have given into drugs, some has lost their sense of pride, many have lost their ways, they have given up and accepted what society has institutionalized them to be. many are being held captive in their own minds and have total disregard of their physical appearance.
I believe it is my mission to coach, help and educate these individuals to help them reconnect with themselves, their families, and their community in order for them to become, successful assets in their communities as well as productive employees and entrepreneurs.
